YOU DON’T OWN YOUR AUDIENCE.
Share
You built the following. You created the content. You earned the attention.
But if someone else controls whether you can reach those people, you don’t fully own the relationship.
Instagram can change its algorithm. Search rankings can move. Ad costs can rise. A marketplace can change its rules. A platform can disappear altogether.
That doesn’t make those channels bad for business. They can be incredibly valuable.
The question is what happens after someone finds you there.
Do they visit your website? Join your email list? Make an inquiry? Become a customer? Give you a way to reach them again without paying—or hoping an algorithm puts you back in front of them?
The goal isn’t to get your audience off social media, search engines or other platforms.
It’s to turn borrowed attention into a relationship your business can continue.
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER
If your most important marketing channel disappeared tomorrow, how many of the people you’ve worked so hard to reach could you still reach?
That number may tell you more about your audience than your follower count does.
